The presentation of the Italian gymnasts

Sofia Tonelli, born in 2007, made her international circuit debut at the Baku World Cup.
She achieved international prominence at the 2025 European Championships in Leipzig.
Competing with the Italian team, she won the gold medal in the team event.
At the same competition, she won the bronze medal on the balance beam with a score of 13.633.
In Leipzig, she also placed 9th in the all-around and 6th on the uneven bars.
In 2026, she won the all-around title at the Treviglio Champions Cup.
At the 2026 Mediterranean Games in Taranto, she won team gold.
She also secured the bronze medal in the individual all-around final with a score of 51.650.
Her international career is thus marked by significant achievements at both the European and Mediterranean levels.

Yumin Abbadini, born in Bergamo in 2001, is one of the leading Italian gymnasts of his generation.
A specialist on the pommel horse, he is also an all-around athlete across the six apparatuses of men's artistic gymnastics.
In 2022, he won the team silver medal with Italy at the European Championships in Munich.
In 2023, he made history by winning team gold with Italy at the European Championships in Antalya—the first-ever European team title for the Italian men's squad.
That same year, he achieved an outstanding 6th-place finish in the all-around at the World Championships in Antwerp.
In 2024, at the European Championships in Rimini, he won bronze in the individual all-around and team bronze.
Also in 2024, he competed in the Paris Olympics, where Italy finished 6th in the team event.
In the Olympic individual final, Abbadini placed 11th in the all-around. In 2025, he helped win the team bronze medal at the European Championships in Leipzig.
His international record thus includes European titles and medals, a 6th-place finish at the World Championships, and an Olympic appearance.

Mirko Riva will also be competing in Chiasso.

Just days after receiving the announcement from the Swiss Gymnastics Federation, we have received more wonderful news that makes the Chiasso event even more special. Thanks to his excellent results and significant technical progress, Mirko Riva—a Chiasso native born in 2005 and a member of the U21 national squad—has also been selected to compete in this prestigious event. It is a source of great pride and satisfaction for our club to see another gymnast developed within our own ranks reach this milestone and have the chance to perform before a home crowd at such a high-level competition. There will be three gymnasts from Ticino taking center stage that evening! This participation makes the event even more significant for the entire gymnastics community in our Canton. All the ingredients are in place for an unmissable evening: top-class gymnasts, high-level competition, and the joy of cheering on our local talents in person.

Mattia Pifaretti and Lena Bickel Protagonists“At Home”

The Swiss lineup for 43rd MG is known.

We couldn't have gotten better news! The Swiss Federation has announced the names of the four Swiss representatives for the 43rd edition of the Arturo Gander Memorial.

In the men's field, we will have Mattia Piffaretti of SFGChiasso and Matteo Giubellini.

In the women's field, Lena Bickel of SFG Morbio Inferiore and Annie Wu.

Our Mattia Piffaretti, along with Matteo Giubellini, brilliantly won the team bronze medal at the recent EC in Zagreb, behind Germany and Russia. Lena Bickel, who along with Anny Wu qualified Switzerland for the upcoming WC in Rotterdam thanks to a 10th-place team finish, finished 10th in the combined final and 8th in the floor final.

The anticipation for the big event on November 5th is thus taking on a new dimension for us. The red-cross team will in fact be painted in the red-blue colours, to our immense satisfaction.
