There will be five Swiss representatives at the 41st edition of the Memorial Gander on November 6th. The name of Matteo Giubellini, the rising star of Swiss gymnastics, stands out above all others. At the Paris Olympics he obtained an amazing tenth place in the multiple final of the best 24 gymnasts from the qualifying group. This twenty-year-old from Aargau was a real surprise, enchanting everyone with his virtuous and elegant gymnastics. Alongside him was another great star of Paris, Florian Langenegger, a twenty-one-year-old who also graduated from the Aargau school. Both contributed effectively to the splendid seventh place of the Swiss national team in the team final. The Swiss delegation in the men's field was completed by twenty-nine-year-old Christian Baumann, who already won a silver medal on the parallel bars at the European Championships in Basel and who will close his splendid competitive career with the Memorial Gander and the subsequent Swiss Cup. Finally, in the women's field, there will be Annie Wu, the current Swiss vice champion, and Stephanie Siegenthaler. |
