Greetings from the international Federation

Dear All,

As President of the International Gymnastics Federation, I am pleased that such a world-class tournament honours every year the memory of Arthur Gander, a great man who led the International Gymnastics Federation from 1966 to 1976.

Arthur Gander was a pioneer in the history of Artistic Gymnastics. His legacy goes far beyond Switzerland. He drafted the first technical code of points for men’s gymnastics, which gave the discipline a clear set of rules and standards for judging that could be used worldwide.

That is one of his remarkable achievements. The tournament named after him is back this year to Chiasso, where he was famous for his success as an instructor and coach.

Since the very first event, great champions have been taking centre stage at this Memorial. A few weeks after the World Championships in Liverpool, this 39th edition will be another opportunity to see talented gymnasts in action.

I wish you all a wonderful event!
