A few months ago, all eyes were focused on Paris, where the world's greatest gymnasts displayed their incredible skills. They showed, once again, that sports is all about solidarity, friendship and surpassing oneself, no matter one's country, age or gender. We saw how important it is for these athletes to support one another, in victory or in defeat. Today, we have the privilege to admire them here, in Chiasso, on the occasion of the 41st Memorial Arthur Gander. I am sure that it will live up to its tradition of being one the most prestigious gymnastics events in Switzerland, honouring the memory of the great Arthur Gander, a true figure of our sport. I am counting on you, dear Spectator, to cheer on all the wonderful gymnasts competing here tonight. May your support and enthusiasm lift them to new heights! |
