Ladies and Gentlemen, Athletes, The international gymnastics event, the Arturo Gander Memorial, returns to Chiasso every two years. It is always a great pleasure for me to convey, on behalf of the municipality and the people of Chiasso, greetings and best wishes to the athletes and their companions from the various international teams participating in this exceptional competition. This important competition has over time become a fixture in our canton's sporting calendar; but also, evidently, in the calendar of the champions who choose to participate in the Memorial year after year, a tangible sign of the prestige this meeting has acquired over the years. This edition will also feature some of the greatest names in international gymnastics. For a small community like ours, it is not easy to maintain an international event of this caliber and promote it every two years. Therefore, thanks are deserved and deserved to the organizing committee, the Chiasso Federal Gymnastics Society, the volunteers, the sponsors, and all those who make this event possible. Over the years, we have been fortunate to meet, and above all, admire, world-class gymnastics athletes performing live for our audiences. This is an opportunity not to be missed, and I sincerely invite the people of Ticino to take advantage of this unique and rare opportunity. The Municipality of Chiasso, although faced with financial difficulties like all municipal entities, strives to provide the organizers with the best possible support, aware that promoting sport is a cornerstone, especially for the younger generations: elite athletes are an example, a dream, and an achievement to be inspired by. Therefore, events like the Gander Memorial are very welcome.
